Yep agreed. Data is old and of poor quality. I did one campaign and received a 60% bounce rate. Almost banned from my email marketing provider.

I would say don't buy it. There are better companies out there. Save your $$ and go elsewhere. I asked for a refund and was told no, so don't waste your money like I did.

Somewhat correct, but also, basically, has no bearing. ISPs are free to block/filter whatever they want, and not just under CAN-SPAM. The CDA applies as well, and it makes no distinction for type of message sent. I'm also not sure that CAN-SPAM can be reasonably interpreted to mean that you can't filter/block transactional messages.

It seems there's a problem: treating commercial and non-commercial email in the same way.

I believe that the SPAM Act does not apply to non-commercial email. I'm also told that ISP's are not required to abide by the SPAM Act.

"legal according to can spam" simply means that the FTC won't prosecute you for spamming.

There's nothing in there about email appending becoming a best practice because it isnt specifically prohibited in canspam

And there's nothing at all in saying that sending mail to appended and coreg lists won't get you blocked.

As Al said, and as spamhaus have said, that's as good a way to get blocked at a variety of places as any.

I think that a purchased list such as that for a list growth strategy is like buying a lottery ticket as a retirement strategy. You might get lucky, but more often than that, nothing happens. Or worse, you end up mailing to spamtraps and you get blacklisted.

According to Zoominfo, they have 9 “verified” contacts in their database - all working in my company. In addition, they have been sending SPAM to these same contact names at our domain over the past few weeks. The problem is that 8 of these people don’t actually work for my company and they are not even in the same country. What value does a database have when it’s 88% inaccurate?

From a trusted but needs to stay anonymous source in Holland: A2B Internet BV initially tried to make their complaint to the Dutch HTCU (High Tech Crime Unit) but the HTCU guys sent them away, saying A2B's complaint was 'tripe' and "nothing HTCU would look into".

HTCU told A2B Eric Bais that if he really wanted to file such a banal complaint he should try his local police instead. That is why A2B ended up filing the complaint at a simple local area police station, instead of with the Dutch HTCU. He might as well have filed it in the shredder and saved himself the time.

Great comment, except for the fact that you're completely wrong. If the mail is unsolicited, you need to label it as an advertisement. In other words, if the mail is spam, you need to label it as spam. Think it through -- when lacking permission, you need to label your mail in a way that makes it dead easy for ISPs to denote that you don't have permission. The net here is that spam must be labeled and that you're making it easier for ISPs to block it, which they will handily do.
