Five Inbox Logos That Are Not BIMI

Every so often someone emails me a screenshot from their inbox and asks a simple question: Is this a BIMI logo? A lot of the time, the answer is no. In my latest Ask Al video for Valimail, I walk through five logo, avatar, and profile picture mechanisms that can look a lot like BIMI sender logos, but are something else entirely. These are real things people still see in real inboxes, which is why the confusion keeps coming up. I cover Gravatar, Google account profile pictures, Yahoo legacy sender logos, Microsoft Brand Cards, now gone, and Apple Business Connect.

Some of these are legacy systems. Some are provider specific. A couple still work today in limited ways. None of them are BIMI. If you have ever wondered why a logo shows up at Yahoo but not Gmail, or why Gmail shows a logo that is not coming from BIMI, this video should help connect the dots.

My goal? To help you understand the limitations of these different, alternate mechanisms and why, if you want to show off your brand’s logo in the inbox, BIMI is still the way to go.

Enjoy.
