Dead Domains: Securence and USI Email Shutdown
Securence is the cloud-based email security and management division of Minnesota-based internet provider U.S. Internet (USI), and they're getting out of the hosted services business.
Hosted Exchange, POP/IMAP email services, webmail, and authoritative DNS zones (managed through USI and Securence) will cease operations completely as of November 11, 2026. Find more details here.
Which domains does this cover? Per USI, affected consumer email domains include: alohausi.com, hula.net, luaumail.com, pixi.com, pixi.net, usihi.com, usinternet.com, and usiwireless.com.
This likely affects the 1,100+ customer email domains hosted by Securence, too. See this snapshot of Securence-hosted domains from earlier in 2026 for a sense of the scale.
What does this mean for senders? USI consumer mailbox users are losing access to these accounts. Mail to these domains is going to bounce, and you're going to lose access to those subscribers.
You've got a short window of just a couple of weeks to email those subscribers and ask them to update any mailing list or other subscriptions with a new email address. If you wait until after November 11th, you'll be sending to addresses that are on their way to being dead.
And after November 11th, assume that mail to those domains to start being rejected once the mailbox provider shuts everything down. In my experience, mailbox providers do not always immediately turn off inbound mail to the domains. But assume that most users are jumping ship, as nobody is promising any mailbox access after the shutdown date. So plan accordingly.
If you have subscribers at any of these domains, reach out now while you still can, and make sure your bounce handling is ready for the wave that follows.
Reddit users note that this shutdown seems to follow a previous service outage. I also note that USI was acquired by T-Mobile in 2025, and I rather suspect that telecom providers are no longer fond of being in the email (or maybe the legacy hosted service) business.
