Orange.fr tightens spam complaint thresholds

Sending email messages to French subscribers with mailboxes hosted by Orange?

Starting in mid-August 2025, Orange.fr will begin "triggering protection mechanisms" if your spam complaint rate reaches 0.6 percent or higher. These mechanisms can include filtering, blocking, or other forms of message suppression.

Orange has also stated that their long-term goal is to bring that threshold down to 0.3 percent. This brings them more in line with similar recent updates from Gmail and Yahoo, who have also tightened expectations around complaint rates.

If you're sending email to French recipients, now is a good time to check your complaint metrics, review your opt-in process, and make sure your unsubscribe link is easy to find and use. Consent and list hygiene are once again in the spotlight.

More detail is available on the Orange Postmaster site at postmaster.orange.fr.

I think it's safe to assume that this affects all email domains hosted by Orange, with the primary user mailbox email domains being orange.fr and wanadoo.fr.
