It's time to report on more M&A activity in the email marketing platform space.
Zeta Global and Marigold have announced that Zeta is acquiring various email marketing platforms from Marigold. These include: Marigold Loyalty, Cheetah Digital, Selligent, Sailthru, Liveclicker, and Grow.
They note that "Marigold’s SMB businesses, Campaign Monitor, Emma, and Vuture, are not included in the transaction."
As you can see from the list of names above, Marigold, previously known as the CM Group, is home to a lot of email marketing platforms, making me wonder about the complexity of uncoupling these various systems.
Marigold's lineage can be traced back to Cheetah Digital, once owned by Experian, later managed by a number of ex-ExactTarget folks. Once upon a time, downtown Indianapolis was home a Cheetah Digital office, in the historic Guaranty Building, a building that I myself spent much time in, when it was headquarters for ExactTarget.
