The transition was announced back on June 24th, and here we are, just over a month later, it looks like all domains have switched over.
To recap, affected domains are: ameritech.net, att.net, bellsouth.net, currently.com, flash.net, nvbell.net, pacbell.net, prodigy.net, sbcglobal.net, snet.net, swbell.net, wans.net, and worldnet.att.net.
These are all now fully Yahoo Mail domains, from a sender's perspective. In the past, they were a bit of a hybrid configuration; with AT&T specific inbound mail gateways, and AT&T specific filtering, even though the mail eventually landed in mailboxes hosted on Yahoo Mail's servers.
This means:
No more AT&T-specific blocking, so no more having to contact abuse_rbl @ ATT to request unblocking.
Yahoo Mail bulk sender requirements (including email authentication, transparent mailing practices, keeping complaints low, etc.) now apply to all sends to all AT&T subscribers.
AT&T domains are probably part of the Yahoo CFL (Complaint Feedback Loop), their version of an FBL. (I haven't personally confirmed this. We shall see.)
You probably don't need to seed test both AT&T and Yahoo mailboxes separately. I have separate AT&T test mailboxes myself, because they're free to make and their filtering was slightly different than Yahoo's. I guess I can retire those now.
The Yahoo Sender Hub is the place to go if you're looking for info or contacts for troubleshooting delivery problems to AT&T mailboxes.
I am reliably informed that AT&T has some good people keeping their consumer mail gateways up and secure; I thank them for their assistance and good work over the years and hope the future holds good things for them all.
August 2, 2025 Update: Well, I might have spoke too soon. Today, folks are seeing problems resolving any MX record for worldnet.att.net. I suspect some sort of DNS oopsie and I imagine folks will fix it as soon as possible. Feel free to check my online tester here to see current status.
The transition is complete, according to my little widget! All AT&T consumer mailbox domains now have MX records that point directly to Yahoo Mail's infrastructure.
