Hey, fellow email geeks! Let’s talk about Gmail tabs. Love ‘em? Hate ‘em? Just kinda tolerate ‘em? I want to hear from you. I've been talking a lot lately about Apple Mail's new, similar categorization functionality, and it made me think that now might be a good time to check for updated feedback to update the data on how people feel about the original Google version of inbox organization.
Gmail’s inbox categories (a.k.a. “tabs”) have been around for a lonnnng time, since 2013! If you’re an email marketer, deliverability consultant, or just someone who lives and breathes email, you’ve probably got opinions on them. Have they been a help or a hindrance? Are they doing what Gmail intended? Do they cause unnecessary confusion for recipients? Or do they successfully keep inboxes organized?
I’ve put together a short survey to gauge how the email community really feels about Gmail tabs in 2025. Whether you love them, loathe them, or land somewhere in between, I’d love to get your take.
It’ll take just a couple of minutes to complete, and I’ll share the results in a follow-up. Your insights will help paint a clearer picture of how tabs impact email deliverability, engagement, and the overall user experience.
So, what do you say? Take the survey, share your thoughts, and let’s see what the email community really thinks about Gmail tabs today! Thanks in advance, and I look forward to hearing from you!
