Long-time chronicler of the email marketing space Ken Magill has just announced that he is leaving Penton Media.
I'm glad somebody sent me the link, because DirectMag's emails keep getting caught in my spam filter, and I never have the time or care to go dig them out. (Might be time for them to read up on subscriber engagement and do some list cleaning.)
Wherever Ken ends up going next, I hope they're able to do a better job at creating a web home for his articles -- something has always seemingly been awry with how Ken's articles show up online at Direct. This "Magilla Marketing" page, for example, only has a few of his articles, and it's something of a mess.
Anyway, enough complaining about Penton and Direct. Congratulations to Ken -- he's a straight shooter that I respect strongly and I look forward to what the next chapter in his career will be.

That's be the second time he has left writing about email. Poor guy doesn't even have a LinkedIn account.
ReplyDeleteToo bad, guess we'll never get that apology when all the class actions suits he predicted under c-27 don't transpire.
I never said I'd apologize. I said I'd admit I was wrong. There's a big difference.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's not like I died. I just left Penton. If it turns out I'm wrong, I'll publicly admit it.
I think I'm going to start a rumor that you died. Kidding. Can't wait to see what you end up doing next!
ReplyDeleteMany fond memories of arguing with Ken when I was doing CAUCE media relations.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck wherever you end up.
