TLD .us is still full of bad stuff

This is why we can't have nice things.

Brian Krebs reports on research gathered by Infoblox showing a massive malware and phishing operation using thousands of short domains in the .us TLD. Stuff like this is why some spam filters treat some TLDs more harshly than others; if most of the references you see to any .us domain are spammy, it might make sense to just treat all .us mail as spammy.

It turns out, this isn't even the first time Brian Krebs has linked to data that warned us that .us is potentially an infested wasteland of unsafe domains.

In short...looking to pick your new domain name? Email or not, I'd avoid .us.

Here's more on the topic of TLDs when it comes to picking a domain name.
