Who hosts what mail? MBP Spotlight is the series here at Spam Resource where I’ll share ranking data for the top mailbox providers (including B2B) based on where they fall in the top ten million domains. Some entries might have more info, some entries might have less, depending on what information I know about them and what information I can find online.
To count rankings, I took a snapshot of MX records for the top ten million domains, and then rolled them up based on the domain name hosting mail for each domain. That shows me how many domains have their inbound email hosted by hosted by “*.google.com,” “*.outlook.com,” etc.
There are a few different types of MX record for QQ.com domains. I'm not sure what the difference is between each, but I'll at least document them here:
mx1.qq.com
mxbiz1.qq.com
cloudmx.qq.com
mxdomain.qq.com
Deliverability to mailboxes hosted by China's Tencent QQ aka QQMail is tricky. Challenges include:
A lot of online guidance can be out of date.
Postmaster/FBL Access requires local in-country or regional expertise or access (or both).
China's "Great Firewall" content filters work in ways that Western senders are not used to and can seem inscrutable.
Rate limits/volume requirements can be quite draconian and limiting. You may only get a handful of messages through daily.
The short version of QQ guidance is to send very small amounts of mail daily, and very slowly up that limit day-by-day. If you start to see blocking, you've increased volume too quickly. Back off and try again. If you need help beyond that, you'll need to hire somebody with in-region expertise (and that person or company would likely need to be in China or Asia).
Salesforce, Validity, and VoloMP have published more information on the topic of Tencent QQ Deliverability.
