Jaina Mistry, writing for the Litmus blog, recently pulled together a very comprehensive update on the state of the Gmail Promotions Tab and what marketers should be doing (or not doing) to deal with it in this modern page.
As she notes, Gmail tabs are here to stay -- having first appeared in 2013, they remain a fixture of Google's inbox experience to this day. Not everybody uses tabs, but those that do like the organization and focus that the tabbed experience provides. And it's not just Google. Yahoo! Mail and Microsoft's Outlook.com have similar functionality, and Apple's adding "categories" intended to allow Apple Mail users the ability to organize messages using "on device" AI (in this case, standing for Apple Intelligence).
