For my most recent Valimail "Ask Al" video, I had a bit of fun chatting with expert deliverability consultant Alison Gootee on the topic of blocklists. The question I was most recently asked was, does DMARC help prevent blocklist issues? Not really, which is kind of a short answer, so I decided to transition it to a discussion about the hows and whys of blocklists. Find it here or embedded below.
Thank you kindly to Alison for helping me explain how DNSBLs work!
Fun random fact: I publish a whole other website about blocklists, called Blocklist Resource. Because so many blocklists have retired or been shut down over the past years, it has become something of a blocklist graveyard. To me, this is a reminder of how much deliverability and sending reputation have moved on and are no longer blocklist-centric -- the primary reputation models for email delivery and inbox placement just aren't the same as they used to be 15+ years ago!

Also, Mickey Chandler recently covered the topic of blocklists in more detail on his new Arcana podcast. Here's a link, if you'd like to check it out.
