Yahoo FBL bug fixed, and signup reminder

Did you recently see a significant increase in the number of spam complaints reported back to you via the Yahoo CFL (Complaint Feedback Loop), their version of an ISP feedback loop? If so, you're not alone. Yahoo reported recently that they were dealing with an issue where reports might be duplicated, and I've heard from many folks who were indeed affected by this.

Thankfully, as of August 9th, the issue is fixed. I'm reporting it here for posterity's sake, in case you're only now checking your FBL complaint stats and might be wondering what was going on.

As I mentioned back in May, Yahoo now has a new feedback loop signup/subscription management portal as part of the Yahoo Senders Hub.

If you were previously signed up for the Yahoo CFL (say, from years ago), you should go signup again. All previously registered domains needed to be re-registered by August 1, 2024. (I'm not sure if they've shut down reporting for previously registered domains YET, but it is my understanding that they are intending to do so.)

Wondering more about the value of ISP feedback loops (FBLs)? Here's a video I made last week for Valimail talking specifically about Yahoo's feedback loop, how it utilizes email authentication as part of the feedback loop mechanism, how to utilize DKIM double-signing to manage FBLs across a large number of clients with different domains, and how Yahoo's FBL helped me identify a bad guy trying to do silly things last weekend.
